Welcome to Monsoult, the name given to this very unusual and unique house designed by famed French interior designer Vincent Fourcade and his partner Robert Denning, whose clients included the likes of Jackie Kennedy and The Rothschilds.

 

From the driveway the appearance of the house is deliberately deceptive. A casual look reveals a basic white Long Island Shingle/Colonial, a house so ordinary from the outside that the inside is totally unexpected. Inside Fourcade designed a wild, dramatic interior of momentous East Coast antique furniture disposed in a rather studied manner over heated marble floors alongside hand-loomed rugs and carpets, bolstered all with suitably rarified paintings and prints.

 

Vincent Fourcade grew up in Montsoult, France in a 20 room home and designed this Bridgehampton home in the spirit of his family home, so much so that Fourcade had the entire home designed around original pieces of furniture taken from his home in France.

Sadly, both Fourcade and Denning passed away in the wave of the massive early AIDS epidemic shortly after the home was constructed in 1985.
